Ernestine Marie “Tina” Swinimer,74 of Blockhouse,
Lunenburg Co., passed away February 28, 2010, surrounded by her loving
family, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, after a
courageous seven year journey with cancer. Born in Farmville, October
24, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Welsford and Eva Hiltz. She
left this world the way she lived her life - full of love, humor and
as a caring person. Over the years she made so many friends, both
here and far away, she was loved by all. Tina, our Mom, wife,
grandmother and sister, will be missed and never forgotten. Tina was
a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay where she was
also a member of the ELW. She was a dedicated employee of Tri-Town
Cable for 21 years and then with S.H.A.I.D. Animal Shelter for six
years. Tina volunteered her time to many organizations over the
years. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralston and their
children, Michael (Linda Woodworth) and son Kyle; Darlene (Kerry Wile)
and children, Laura, Sarah, MacKenzie; Kevin (Roxanne Martin) and
children David, Michelle, Evan; Kerry (Nancy); Darrell (Bonnie) and
children, Tanya, Tammy; Curtis (Denise); Cynthia (Bobby Hiltz) and
children, Zoë, Bruce, Michael; brothers, Reid (Alva); Ross
(Darlene); sister, Laverne (Chris). Cremation has taken place.
Visiting will be 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Mahone Funeral
Home, Mahone Bay. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m.,
Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mahone
Bay, Pastor Stephen Kristenson officiating. Family interment will be
at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may
be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada - Atlantic Division;
Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the
incredible nurses at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Palliative
Care staff, Dr. McAuley, Dr. Abriel and Pastor Stephen Kristenson.
Their devoted care and compassion for Mom and her family was above and
