Walter LeRoy Nauss - 73, Mahone Bay passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Walter was a jack of all trades working for Industrial Shipping Limited, Bluenose Motors Limited and E. W. Dorey & Sons Limited. Walter enjoyed over 30 years service as custodian for the Mahone Bay Post Office and many years service as sextant at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. Walter loved the outdoors - hunting and fishing. Born in Oakland, he was the youngest son of the late Roy and Marguerite Nauss. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Rosella “Rose” (Westhaver), sons Richard (Gail) and Robert (Geraldine), daughters Cynthia (Timothy) Sims, Donna (Arden) Deal, Sandra (John) Rafuse, Gail (David) Ernst, Juliette (Jeffrey) Duffenais, granddaughters Christa Nauss, April Rafuse, Melissa Deal, Stephaine Rafuse, Jasmine and Jillian Duffenais, grandsons Stephen (Tammy) Nauss, Matthew (Michelle) Deal, Evans Sims, great-granddaughter Hailey Nauss-Horstman and brother Earle (Shirley) Nauss and brother-in-law Ralph Turple. He was predeceased by sisters, Janet Acker (George) , Jean Turple and nephew Craig Turple. Cremation has taken place. No visiting. A memorial service will be held at Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 8, Rev. Ian Wissler officiating, assisted by Rev. Bonnie Baird. Burial of ashes will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SHAID Animal Shelter or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. A special thank you to Rev. Ian Wissler for his many prayers and comfort to Walter’s family and the paramedics of EHS, especially Peter MacPherson, doctors, nurses and staff at the South Shore Regional Hospital for the care they gave to Walter these past few days.
