Max H. Dorey
1939-2011
Born in Martins Point on January 29, 1939, he was a son of Evelyn May Dorey and George (Jack) Dorey of Martins Point.
He was employed for many years as the Sambro Island Light House keeper. Max was an incredibly loving and giving brother, uncle, son and most of all friend. He loved taking drives to the many local beaches, spending time on the computer doing his puzzles, and never missed an episode of Wrestling. Max was always there to make you smile with his witty jokes. Max was a wonderful carpenter, and could build just about anything you needed. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time relaxing in his workshop, working on one of his many projects. Max will be greatly missed by all who loved him and will be kept in our hearts and loved forever.
Surviving are his brother Ronald (Donna), Middle Cornwall, and his sister, Vivian (William) Verge; Martins Point; many nieces and nephews including Scott Hupman whom Max considered a son, and his dear friend Ruth Morash; West Dover.
Max was predeceased by his wife of 43 years Jane Ethel Dorey, his mother Evelyn May Dorey; his father George (Jack) Dorey; brothers Lawerence, and Everett, in infancy; and sister Dianne Hupman.
The family will receive visitors between 2-3pm Tuesday, December 13 at the Mahone Funeral Home, with a short service to follow. The service will not only reflect the life of Max Dorey, but the life of his loving wife Jane Dorey, and their life together. Interment will be in the Bayview Cemetery, Chester.
Donations may be made in Max’s name to a charity of choice.
