Irene E. Wagner
Irene Evelyn Wagner, 85, of Maitland, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2015 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, with her family by her side.

Born, August 5, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Ruth and Michael Grinsell.

Irene is survived by hers sons, Michael, Winston (Janice), George (Elaine), Carmen and Spencer; daughters, Dawn (Michael) and Patti (Richard); grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah, Matthew and Daniel; Erin, Alicia and Julie; Jennifer, Elizabeth and Robert; great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Rafuse; many nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her husband, Wallace; son, Gary; infant son, Donald.

Irene was very young at heart and never felt that she was aging. She especially enjoyed the outdoors, spending her time in the summer at the beach or lake, swimming. She was an avid vegetable gardener and fisherwoman up until the age of 83. She also loved doing crossword puzzles and the lexicon. Following Dad’s death, Mom received a special gift of a wonderful little dog which she named “Little Girl”, who became her special friend and companion.

A special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care she received.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. To honour Mom’s request, there will be no visitation. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Mental Health Association or charity of choice.
