It is with great sadness that the family of Hughie Edwin Wile, 98, formerly of Martins River, announce his passing on Thursday, April 28, 2016, with his loved ones by his side, at the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay.

Born in Leminster, Hants County on May 14, 1917, he was a son of the late Bennette and Mamie Wile.

Hughie is survived by his daughters, Rosalie (Ronnie) Knickle and Marlene Swinemar; grandchildren, Kevin ( Monique), Rodney (Charlotte), Joanne (Gerald), Annette (Robert), Michael and Jamie (Lana); 10 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; 1 great great great granddaughter; sister in law, Arlene Wile and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by wife, Clara; brothers, Otis and Gerald; sisters, Queenie, Marjorie and Phyllis; sons-in-law, Gordon Hiltz and Hartley Swinemar; great great great granddaughter, Casey.

Hughie was a man of very few words but a very gentle and kind man, a special husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He enjoyed making others laugh with his special cat meows.

No visiting by request. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Hillside Cemetery, Clearland, Rev. Ron Barkhouse officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses, Lunenburg County Branch; Martins River Fire Department or Mahone Nursing Home.
