D. Marjorie "Marj" Middleton

Dorothea Marjorie “Marj” Middleton. It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothea Marjorie “Marj” Middleton in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay on May 14, 2016 at the age of 79.

She is survived by sons, Bill (Tina) and Larry; daughters, Margi (Mike) and Mary; 9 grandchildren, Bill Jr., Mitchell, Chantel, Nicole, Kayla, Devon, Dakota, Candace, Savannah; two great grandchildren, Owen and Camyrn, as well as extended family in British Columbia.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Dollie and Owen Cannell.

Born in Humboldt, Sask., Marj moved to Nova Scotia in 1956 after joining the navy. After living in many areas of the province, she settled in Mahone Bay, where she worked at the Mahone Bay Save Easy, Zwicker Inn, Mahone Nursing Home and had opened her own restaurant. She joined Calvary Temple where she was janitor, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and she also opened the church to the youth in the community for many years, having refreshments and games for them.

A very special “Thank you” to all the staff at Mahone Nursing Home for their care and love and to all her friends she had there. She often spoke of the excellent care she received and how much she enjoyed her time painting, which she was really good at, bingo and especially her almost daily card games with her card playing buddies.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 7pm, Friday, May 20, 2016 at Calvary Temple, Mahone Bay, Rev. James Haughn officiating.

Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or Mahone Nursing Home Art Program.
