Victor L. Swinimer
Victor was born in Martins Point, Lunenburg Co., to the late Laurie Arthur and Vivian Mae (Barkhouse) Swinimer.
He followed in his father’s footsteps and was a painter by trade. His real passion, however, was karate. He started and continued to operate the Bridgewater Uechi-Ryu Karate Academy in 1989 where he touched the lives of many students over the years and became part of an amazing karate family. Victor was a seventh-degree black belt. Victor found relaxation through his gardens and plants, truly gifted with a green thumb, and also enjoyed cheering the Leafs and the Blue Jays.
Victor was a proud and dedicated father to his only son, Aidan, whom he loved dearly, always ensuring Aidan came first.
Besides Aidan, he is survived by his sister, Judy (Bob) Oakley; brother, Jamie (Dominique); nieces, Melissa, Laura (Geir), Lillian; nephew, William.
As per Victor’s request, there will be no visitation or service; however, a celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 2-5p.m. at Atlantica Oak Island Inn, Western Shore, where we can listen to some of Victor’s vinyl collection and share some stories.
Committal of his ashes will be held at a later date.
