Gaylan J. Aulenback (Hiltz)

Gaylan Joanne Aulenback (Hiltz). It is with saddened hearts that the family of Gaylan Aulenback announce her passing on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Hants Community Hospital in Windsor.

Born in Digby on June 7, 1937, and raised in Mahone Bay, Gaylan was the only child of the late Keith and Etoile Hiltz.

Gaylan began her married life to husband Orren in Halifax, but they later settled in Hantsport to raise their family. Forever the caregiver, Gaylan's heart was her family. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife and mother, and was especially proud of being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

Gaylan is survived by her husband of 58 years, Orren; daughter, Wanda (Timothy) Kehoe, Three Mile Plains; son, Ronald (at home); grandchildren, Lynn (Garland)(John) Peck, Wonowon, BC; Garrett (Brittany) Garland, Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Nicole Garland, Three Mile Plains; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Wesley and Orren Peck, Wonowon, BC.

The family is grateful to everyone who played a role in Gaylan's care during her stay at the Valley Regional Hospital, and extend heart-felt thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at the Hants Community Hospital for their care and compassion.

No flowers, by request. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the Valley Hospice Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the IWK Health Centre Foundation.

Cremation has taken place. There is no visitation at the family's request. Funeral service will be held 2pm, Saturday, January 14 in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay, Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Burial to be held at a later date.
