Claire Agnes Rose Joudrey, Martin’s Point. With heavy hearts we are shocked and saddened to announce the passing of our precious wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Claire Agnes Rose (Bowden) Joudrey at age 69 on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at home in the arms of her soul mate and loving husband, Cecil.

Born in Halifax on August 12, 1947 she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Muise) Bowden.

With the loss of her father at a young age, she had a strong connection with her Mom whom she missed dearly. After marrying the love of her life, she and Cecil settled in Martin’s Point to raise their family. She very much enjoyed life in the country and being involved in the local community. Her Acadian Heritage was an important part of her life, from visiting family in Yarmouth, researching her family history and enjoying Acadian cuisine. During her last years of employment, she worked at Bill’s Store in Mahone Bay until she left the workforce to care for her grandchildren. She and Cecil enjoyed travelling together, spending many hours planning the trips they would take.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Cecil; their daughter, Heather (Michael) of Lunenburg and son, Andrew (Jaime) of Chester Basin. Nana to her precious grandchildren, Emma-Leigh, Abigail, Keaton, Kaleb, Christine, Shannon, Jillian, Alexyn and Gavin. She is also survived by her sisters, Anne, Jeanne, Kaye and her brother, Christopher, all of Halifax. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents and sister, Patsy predeceased her, along with her parents-in-law, Thomas and Florence Joudrey and sister-in-law Judy (Joudrey) Rafuse.

Claire was extremely devoted to her family and always embraced everyone with open arms sharing a warm and loving hug. She was a crafter with special talents in quilting, tole painting, making ornaments, knitting and scrapbooking. She very much enjoyed time spent with her scrapbooking friends and teaching Emma & Abbie the tricks of the trait. She was an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Harding Branch No.144, Western Shore and a faithful member of the Anglican Church. She spent many years teaching Guiding and Sunday School. She also canvassed in the Community for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and Canadian Cancer Society.

Cremation has taken place. Visiting hours will be 7:00pm to 9:00pm, Tuesday, February 14 at Mahone Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2pm, Wednesday, February 15 at St. James’ Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, The Rev. Chad McCharles officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 144, Western Shore.
