Donald C. Andrews

Donald C. Andrews
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we, the family of Donald Cedric Andrews, Oakland, Lunenburg County announce his passing on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Oakland on February 15, 1934, he was the only son of Welton and Dorothy (Whynot) Andrews.

Donnie was a friend to all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit and social personality. In his early years, he worked at C.R. Heisler and Sons boatbuilders and night watchman for Oakland Shipping. He also worked for Industrial Shipping in Mahone Bay and MacFarland’s Construction in Dartmouth. The time came for him to venture into working independently, which he did until retirement. Donnie took great pride in his career as a painter/drywaller. When entering a home, he would always take the time to stop and peruse the handiwork of others, and usually pass comment.

He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 60 years, Myrtle (Joudrey); daughters, Darlene (Keith) Oickle, Prospect Bay, Sheila (Paul) Barkhouse, Clearland and son, Brian (Elizabeth) Heckman’s Island. He was “Poppy” to grandchildren Greg and Kim Oickle, Justin and Cody Barkhouse, Brianna Andrews and Olivia Williams.

He was predeceased by daughter in infancy, Donna Marie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm Thursday March 16, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay, The Reverend Adam Snook officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or South Shore Regional Hospital.

The family would like to thank the medical professionals who cared for Donnie (Dad) during the weeks prior to his passing. Your kindness, respect and professionalism while caring for him is greatly appreciated.
