Leona Glendora Louise Cooper. Passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2018.

Born in Western Shore, she was a daughter of the late Carl & Pearl Sawler.

Left with fond and loving memories are her husband George; daughters, Cindy, Candace and Charlene (Scott); grandchildren, Jeremy, Brittany, Josh, Matthew, Tamara, Natalie, Natasha, Willie; great grandson, Greyson; brothers, Scott, Carl, Lawrence, Perry, Ira, Lee; sisters, Carolyn, Alice, Louise, Joanne, Gloria, Crystal and Gaye; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Iris. Leona was a hard worker who worked at FPI Riverport, National Sea/ Highliner Seafoods. Following her love of cooking she worked at various restaurants, including managing her own, later working at Mahone Nursing Home. She was very involved in her community, as a member of the WS&DVFD Ladies Auxiliary for over thirty years she devoted her time to running Bingo, organizing Garden Party suppers and other fund-raisers for the Fire Department. An avid bingo player and Penny Auction fan she travelled near and far to enjoy her favorite pastimes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend always putting family and friends ahead of her own needs, generously giving and helping others. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten by all who loved her.

No visiting hours. Memorial service will be held 2p.m., Wednesday, January 17th 2018, at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Martin’s Point, burial to follow Western Shore Cemetery with reception at the Western Shore & District Fire Hall.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Mark’s Anglican Church.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to EMS, Western Shore & District Fire Dept. and the RCMP.
