Charles A. Rudderham

Charles A. Rudderham
Charles Alfred Rudderham. Passing after a short illness in Bridgewater, May 10, 2018 at age 87.

Born in Sydney Nova Scotia he was the son of Alfred E. and Effie (Matheson) Rudderham. He attended Sydney Academy, the St. Andrews United Church and played Basketball and Hockey. After a number of years employment with CN Express, he and his wife Irene built and operated several successful tourism businesses in central Cape Breton including the Aberdeen and Fair Isle Motels. Charlie was also a licenced guide, hosting hunters and fisherman from Europe and North America, many returning annually for the hospitality, beauty and bounty the island provided.

In the 1980's Charlie moved to the Annapolis Valley, again working for a time in the hospitality business before retiring to the South Shore. He is survived by his wife Irene; son, Kevin Rudderham; daughter in law, Lorrie Roberts and his pride and joy granddaughters, Leah and Meghan Rudderham, all of Mahone Bay.

He was the last surviving member of his family being predeceased by his sisters, Anne, Florence and Ruth and his brothers, Earl and Murdoch.

An internment of ashes will be held in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay, Saturday May 19th at 1:00 p.m.. As Charlie felt so much at home in the forests and waterways of Nova Scotia, donations may be made in his name to the Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation in Lunenburg
