Lawrence A. Manuel, CWO (Ret'd)
1941-2019
MANUEL, Lawrence Allister, CWO (Ret’d), of Clearland, passed
away peacefully at home on the morning of May 7, 2019 by his
wife’s side. Born November 27, 1941 in Queensland, Halifax
County, to the late Clarence and late Silva (Harnish) Manuel, Larry
went on to have a successful 30- year career with the Canadian Armed
Forces, making countless and lasting friendships with each posting.
As a member of the Mahone Bay Legion, many knew him lovingly as
“The Bacon Man”. He was an avid sports fan, most notably
wearing his Montreal Canadiens jersey and flying his New York Yankees
flag. His other interests included gardening, birding, and
photography. Larry passed away while updating his hockey pool, an
event he greatly enjoyed with his two brothers. He is survived by his
soulmate of 46 years, Denise, his daughter Lori, grandsons Matthew,
Dallas, and Ryan, two great-granddaughters; siblings Marie (Willis)
Clancy, Albert (Lois), Hazel Boutilier, Doug (Heather); and several
nieces and nephews. Larry was the most honest golfer on the face of
the earth and would want us all to “Play It Where It
Lies”. Donations may be made to the Molly Appeal or charity of
your choice. Cremation has taken place and there will be a
Celebration of Life for family and friends at a future date.
