Cyril Joseph "Buddy" Gallant

Cyril Joseph “Buddy” Gallant, age 83 of Blockhouse, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 in Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Benoit’s Cove, NFLD, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Elizabeth (Greene) Gallant.

Cyril was a fishermen by trade until he retired. After retiring, he had many hobbies, some including card games, woodworking, especially building model boats, lighthouses and special gifts for family. He was a great story teller and was always game for a road trip.

He will be sadly missed and forever loved by his partner, Betty Fleet; daughter, Jamie Gallant; two sons, Roger Janes and Paul (Jennifer) Janes; stepdaughter, Louann (Kirk) Rhuland; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Cyril was predeceased by his both parents; eight sisters and two brothers, all from Newfoundland.

Honouring Cyril’s wishes, after cremation, a graveside service will be held 2pm, Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 in Western Shore Cemetery, Rev. James Haughn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital - Emergency Department.

The family would like to thank the nurses in the emergency department of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and Dr. Paul McAuley for taking good care of Cyril.
