Jean Louise Burgoyne

1925-2020

Jean Louise Burgoyne

It is with great sorrow that we the family of Jean Louise Burgoyne, age 94, announce her passing on January 28, 2020 at home in Bridgewater.

She was a long term resident of Mahone Bay. Jean was born on February 14, 1925 to the late Charles and Minnie (Meisner) Barry.

She developed a love of the outdoors and especially horses while growing up in Maitland, Lun. Co.. Jean taught school in small communities with fond memories of her students. She went on to do secretarial work prior to marrying the love of her life, Laurel in 1946. In addition to raising her two children, Jean was known for nurturing her beautiful flower gardens and for her wonderful home cooked meals which often included the best brown bread. She was an avid volunteer for many events and organizations such as St. James' Anglican church and a charter member of the Legionettes, Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 49, Mahone Bay. Getting together with family and friends brought her immense joy. Jean was outstanding at playing cards, someone you would gladly have as a partner as well as a friend.

She was predeceased by her husband, Laurel, as well as brothers, Hugh, Albert, Arthur and Edward; sisters, Stella and Doris.

Jean is survived by her son, Gregory (Susan) Burgoyne and her daughter, Julie (Bill) Campbell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) Drysdale, Dr. Melissa Burgoyne (Kevin Rigby), Megan Campbell (Brandon Tryon), Alex Campbell (Desiree Burke); step grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Cooper and Michael Cooper; great grandchildren, Joshua Drysdale, Teagan and Seamus Rigby, Oliver and Charlotte Cooper. She was an integral part of the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousin, Roger Slauenwhite (Toronto) and her close knit family of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Bernadette and June for their exceptional care and friendship. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Victorian Order of Nurses and to Dr. Gary Ernest.
