Philip J. Lohnes

Philip James Lohnes, Martins Point.

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Philip James Lohnes, age 57 on October 16, 2014 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Audrey (Barnhill) Lohnes, Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg and the late Philip L.K. Lohnes.

Philip loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time in his flower and vegetable gardens. He grew the most beautiful roses. He cherished spending time at the camp at Blysteiner Lake and was a football and hockey fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Montreal Canadiens. He had a love for dogs and would take in stray cats and care for them. His music was the Rolling Stones.

Besides his mother, Philip is survived by his soul mate, Peggy Turner, Martins Point; sisters, Margaret Lohnes, Maders Cove; Christine Lohnes (Peter Mason) and Suzanne Lohnes-Croft (Ken Croft), all of Mahone Bay; brother, Andrew (Angie) Lohnes, Mahone Bay; step son, Ryan Mitton, Amherst; 8 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews.

No visiting by request. A reception and gathering for family and friends will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Trinity United Church Hall, Mahone Bay. All are welcome.

Cremation has taken place and private burial of ashes will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay, Rev. Lee Simpson officiating.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Mahone Bay Fire Department, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay or Royal Canadian Legion, Mahone Bay.
