Melbourne L. Hiltz


Melbourne Lorne Hiltz, age 89 of Forties. Lunenburg County, passed away November 4, 2014 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Forties, he was a son of the late Percy and Alice (Veino) Hiltz.

In earlier years he had been a log driver in northern Ontario for fourteen years, returning to Nova Scotia in 1974 and became a carpenter. He was a 52 year member of Norwood Masonic Lodge No. 135, New Ross.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Eisenhauer), Forties; sons, Cameron Hiltz, Forties; Kenneth Hiltz, Halifax; sisters, Ada Jollymore, New Ross; Roxie Coté, Kentville; brothers, Maurice (Gladys) Hiltz, Burlington, Ont.; Maxwell (Elsie) Hiltz, Forties; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Amos and Clifton.

A Masonic service will be held 6:45 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, followed by visiting hours, 7 - 8 p.m.. Visiting will also be held 1 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 until service time at 2 p.m., in St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church, Forties, Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to The Lung Association of Nova Scotia or New Ross Fire Department.
