Lloyd L. "Boots" Langille

The Funeral Service for Lloyd L. "Boots" Langille will be held today, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5th at St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay.


Lloyd L. "Boots" Langille, age 84, of Oakland, and resident of Ridgewood, Bridgewater, passed away on January 27, 2015 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Oakland, he was the son of the late Isaac and Mary (Rhodenizer) Langille.

He was loved and will be deeply missed by his companion, Betty Eisenhauer, Oakland; daughter, Gaile (Robert) Maddigan, Martins River; son, Terry (Jean) Langille, Brookside; granddaughters, Amy (Jeremy) Hockin, Prospect; Dawn Langille, Shad Bay; great grandson, Rhys Hockin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Doreen (Himmelman) and sister, Marion Langille.

A boat builder whose career started in the family business with his father, Isaac and uncle, Dexter, he also worked at Smith & Rhuland Shipyard, the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, Paceship and as a shipwright at HMC Dockyard. He was a passionate musician having played daily live radio and dances with Fiddlin’ Jim Hamm and various dance and bluegrass bands. He was a founding member of the South Shore Bluegrass Music Association, a member of the Friends of Hank Snow Society and an Inductee in the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ridgewood and the Emergency Department at South Shore Regional Hospital.

The funeral service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay.

Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital.
