1930-2015

Ida Kathleen Swinamer
Age 84, of Western Shore, Lunenburg Co., passed away April 5, 2015 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in New Ross, she was the daughter of the later Robert and Ida (Redden) Leopold and guardians, the late Harry and Veda (Walker) Veinotte.

Ida devoted her life to the unconditional love of her family and extended family. She loved family gatherings at the camp, and spending time in nature, camping and fishing. She shared her time between the communities of Western Shore and New Ross. She was a member of St. Marks Anglican Church, Martin's Point, as well as a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.79 Ladies Auxiliary, New Ross.

Ida will be sadly missed by her surviving family including her loving husband, Cecil Swinamer; her brother, Fred (Carolyn) Leopold, Parrsboro; sisters, Geraldine Dempsey, Grand View Manor and Ivlo Gates, Harbour View Haven; her children, Wayne (Cathy) McDow, Larry (Joyce) McDow, William McDow, Robert (Diana) McDow, Margo (Don) McDow, Darrin (Melonie) Swinamer and step-son, Joey (Cathy) Henley; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister, Audrey Adams; brothers, Jimmy Leopold and Merritt Veinotte; daughter, Dorothy McDow; grandson, Chad McDow; great grandson, Ethan McDow.

Visitation for Ida will be held 7-9pm, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral Service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Martin's Point, Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life, 4:30-6:30pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.79, New Ross.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or South Shore Regional Hospital.
