Ruby Mildred Young
Ruby Mildred (Veinote) Young drifted off at home without pain in her 98th year on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 in West Porter’s Lake surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 23rd, 1917 in Second Peninsula, Lunenburg County, she was the fifth child of the late William Albert “Pop” and Waity "Mom" (Demone) Veinote.

Ruby was married to George Gladwyn "G.G." Young for 56 years until his death in 1994. She is survived by daughters, Sandra (Mrs. Allen McKenzie), Wellington; Judith (Mrs. Kenneth Munro), Quispamsis, N.B.; Patricia (Mrs. George Chung), West Porter’s Lake; Susan (Mrs. Dayle Smith), Trenton; sister, Lillian (Mrs. Edward Ryder), Pleasantville; nine grandchildren, Alan, Lee-Ann, Glen, Ian, Kirk, Jason, Brandon, Kelly and Tyler; 15 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by brothers, Basil, Cecil and Frank; sisters, Leila, Pearl and Beatrice.

After the nest was empty, she and GG moved back to the South Shore where they owned and operated motels and where many got to enjoy her cooking and gardening skills, as well as her charm. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, sharing love and laughter. The joy she experienced every Tuesday at the VON Breakaway program in Spryfield was immeasurable. Ruby's hugs and smiles were contagious.

Big hugs go to Dr. Paige Moorhouse, Dr. Peter MacAulay, her girls from WeCare and the VON homecare nurses. You all made her life so comfortable and she appreciated it.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service celebrating Ruby's life will be held 2pm, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mahone Bay, Rev. Adam Snook officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
