Gertrude Ruth Dauphinee

Gertrude Ruth Dauphinee, age 94 yrs., of Maitland, Lun. Co., passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Sweetland on Sept. 2, 1920, she was a daughter of John Obed Arbet and Laura Lavenia (Rhodenhizer) Joudrey.

Gertrude was the oldest resident of Maitland. She mowed her lawn until she was 83, knit slippers until she was 85 and mixed and baked bread until she was 90.

She is survived by her son, Stuart (Shirley), Maitland; daughters, Gloria (Eugene) Silver, Lower Northfield; Doreen Wheeler, Maitland; Brenda (Kendall) Ernst, Maitland; sister, Olive Wynacht, Bridgewater; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm, 29 years ago; brothers, Dawson, Cecil; sister, Myrtle Slauenwhite; brothers-in-law, Sidney and Emery; sisters-in-law, Pearl and Carrie; son-in-law, Harry.

Visiting will be 7-9pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. A funeral service will be held 2pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Christ Church, Maitland, Rev. Ian Wissler officiating. Burial will be in Christ Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ Church Restoration Fund or Mahone Bay Food Bank.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jenkins, nurses and staff of the ALC unit at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital.
