Charles Blake "Charlie" Rafuse

Charles Blake "Charlie" Rafuse, age 92, of Martins Point, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 16, 2020.

He was a son of the late Selvin and Flora (Sawler) Rafuse. He is survived by his wife, Lola; son, Stephen (Betty), Newburne; daughter, Mae (Clarence) Thibeau, Chester Basin; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Oran, William, Lester and Earl. Sister, Mae, Rose, Grace and Irene.
Charlie was a founding member of the Western Shore and District Fire Department and served proudly for many years. He was a hardworking man, always busy with some project and was the family “Mr. FixIt”. He enjoyed spending time with his family and everyone loved their trips in the boat. His vegetable gardens were a source of pride and everyone loved those dilled beans and smoked mackerel. He worried about his family until the end.

His family would like to thank “the girls” from Lunenburg County Home Care and the Victorian Order of Nurses for their loving care and kindness which allowed him to remain in his home as he wished.

A private graveside service for invited family and friends will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Western Shore Cemetery, Reverend Ron Barkhouse officiating.

Family flowers only please. Memorial donations in Charlie’s memory are requested to be made to Western Shore and District Fire Department, Lunenburg County Victorian Order of Nurses or Western Shore Cemetery Fund.
