Lillis Cavell Barkhouse
Lillis Cavell Barkhouse

Age 100, of Gold River, passed peacefully on May 31, 2021 at her home, with her family by her side. Born November 22, 1920, she was the last surviving member of immediate family.

Survived by children Marsha, Gold River, Charles (Cate), Chester and Pam (Russ), Calgary. Three grandchildren, Alana, Halifax, Matthew, Gold River and Christopher (Juliette), Cambodia. Two great-great granddaughters, Lauren, Halifax and Charlie, Cambodia. Plus many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; two sisters, Ada and Ora; three brothers, Moyle, Arthur and Charlie.

Mom and Dad lived in Ontario where she had an antique shop. In the 1960’s they moved to Yarmouth where they restored a 13 room house which Mom then filled with antiques.

After our father’s death, Mom sold the home in Yarmouth and built a home in Gold River where she resided until her passing.

She was an avid yard sale lady and she was on the road every weekend, traveling around Gold River, Bridgewater and Valley. Everyone who met her loved her.

Mom was the strongest woman we knew. She was always there for us and never expected anything in return.

Our family would like to give its deepest thanks to her grandson, Matthew. For the past five years he never left her side.

Service to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the SHAID Tree Animal Shelter and the Victoria Order of Nurses.

Rest In Peace Mom/Nan. We love you so much and you will forever be in our hearts.
