Darrell Wayne Whynot

1954-2021

Darrell Wayne Whynot
The family of Darrell Wayne Whynot, 66, of Pinegrove, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, July 22, 2021 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Darrell was born August 27, 1954 to Francis and Doris (Gamble) Whynot.

Darrell recently celebrated 50 years of employment with the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure as an Engineering Aide for the Western District Construction Manager. His colleagues did him proud with a celebration of his time with the department that he talked about often in his final days.

Darrell was fortunate to be able to express his love of music by playing drums, beginning at age 15, in several bands throughout the years, his longest and proudest stint being the drummer for Blue Bay.

With pride Darrell actively supported his son Ryan’s love of hockey by attending every game and practice possible and volunteering in many capacities to support Ryan’s teams throughout the years.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Francis & Doris.

He is survived by his son, Ryan (Tina Myra), and grandson, Ryker Whynot, Gold River and sister, Diana (John Bywater), Halifax.

Darrell’s family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors, nurses and clinicians of the Emergency, ICU, and Medical departments of South Shore Regional Hospital for their care and kindness during the past month.

A private grave side service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to ERSP account for his grandson, Ryker, care of Ryan Whynot or a charity of choice.
