Audrey Kathleen (Ernst) Herbin

Audrey Kathleen (Ernst) Herbin. Age 89, of Indian Point, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 14th 2021.

Born November 16, 1931 on Rous Island to the late Russell Ernst and Mamie (Wentzell) Ernst.

Audrey had three brothers and one sister. She was married on November 16th 1972 to John “Jack” Frederick Herbin. They were married in Bedford at All Saints Anglican Church.

Audrey worked for the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) for 33 years. Before her lengthy career at WCB she worked for Moirs Chocolates.

She loved spending time with her many fur babies or as Audrey referred to them as her “funny little hairpins”. Audrey knit many socks, mittens, dish clothes and sweaters for her immediate and extended family and friends. She loved to bake cakes, pies, cookies and was famous for her cheese biscuits. Her strawberry jam was legendary. Audrey and Jack loved their trips to Virginia Beach to visit cousin Frances (Bill) Redmond who was like a sister to Audrey. She was a member of the Indian Point Union Church.

Audrey is survived by her sister, Viola Hyson; brother, Chuck (Cathy) Ernst and sister-in-law, Geraldine Ernst; step-children, John (Janet) Herbin, Susan (John) Hubbard. Audrey has five step-grandchildren, six nieces, great-niece and great-nephews; many cousins.

Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Mamie Ernst; husband, Jack Herbin; step-son, Donald Herbin; brothers, Clyde Ernst and Lawrence Ernst; sister-in-law, Jean Ernst; brother-in-law, Ashton Hyson.

Memorial donations are requested to be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or ElderDog Canada.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held 11am, Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Park Cemetery, Old Oakland Road, Indian Point, Nova Scotia.

COVID-19 protocol for masks and social distancing to be followed. PROOF OF VACCINATION will be required to attend. For an outdoor service, please bring your own mask, chair, umbrella and dress for the weather.
