Anthony "Tony" Bruce Franklin Smith

SMITH, Anthony “Tony” Bruce Franklin – 67, Riverport, NS died on May 12, 2022.

Tony was the son of the late R. Gordon and Lois M. (Lodge) Smith.

Born in Saint John, NB he lived in all three Maritime Provinces, with the South Shore of Nova Scotia being home for the past 38 years.

Tony is survived by his partner, Anne Ward; children, Jennifer, Christine, Geoffrey; grandchildren Ronan & Hugh; sisters Sara Harding & Becky Campbell; numerous nephews & nieces, cousins, stepchildren; and his faithful Duck Toller, Killick.

Tony spent the early portion of his working life as an automotive technician and as a service manager. He changed careers and dedicated 25+ years as a registered nurse, working primarily in the South Shore Regional Hospital’s Mental Health & Addictions unit. He also was a volunteer first responder with the Riverport Volunteer Fire Department. Tony’s passion was sailing. To be on the water was his solace. He spent many seasons crewing, and later skippering his own sailboats for both pleasure and in competition. He was a past Rear Commodore of the LaHave River Yacht Club.

At his request there will be no funeral. A committal service will take place at a later date.
