Yvonne Lucille Wilkie

1938-2022

Yvonne Lucille Wilkie
Yvonne Lucille Wilkie
Yvonne Lucille Wilkie, age 84, of Blockhouse, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, October 12th 2022, at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg.

She was born March 11th 1938, the daughter of Ivan and Idella (Spidle) Langille.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Tina Wilkie, and her brother, Douglas Darren, who passed away at birth. Also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Brenda Langille; her parents, Ivan and Idella Langille and parent- in- laws, Amy and Oswald Wilkie.

She was a member of the United Baptist Church in Mahone Bay and of the auxiliary at the Blockhouse & District Fire Department. She also volunteered at the Mahone Bay Food Bank and to anyone else who needed a hand.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Wallace; son, Wade (Susan) Wilkie; daughter, Paula (Shawn) MacDonald; six grandchildren, Ryan, Gavin, Kelli, Katlyn, Megan (Jason) and Erin (Robert) and several great grandchildren; brother, Darren Langille and sister, Mae Fredericks. She also leaves many other friends and family members who will greatly miss her.

Yvonne was always busy, raising children, volunteering and eventually going to work outside the home. Known for many years as one of the Mrs. Toy Towns, she had great joy working upstairs at the old Bills Store in Mahone Bay. She loved to watch the children take their time, picking out each special toy and many of them remember her well. After she left Bills Store, she came home for several years to look after her own mother and was a kind and gentle caregiver to her.

She loved children, you could see the joy on her face when her children were home, her grandchildren and then special visits from her great grandchildren. Her face would light us each and every time, just as if it were the first time, she saw them.

Yvonne enjoyed life, was an amazing cook, and enjoyed travelling. Spending most of her days with the love of her life Wally by her side where they spent almost 70 years together, almost 66 of them as husband and wife.

Always in our hearts - rest easy ...xoxo

Special thank you to the amazing staff, the nurses and doctors who made her last days as comfortable as possible. Their kindness and support will never be forgotten.
