Abdoullah Assaff "Abe" Younis

YOUNIS, Abdoullah “Abe”. Age 86, of Oakland, passed away January 21, 2023 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Mahone Bay on October 29, 1936, he was a son of the late Abdou and Emma Younis, who also resided in Mahone Bay.

Abe joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1954 and served for five years. He returned home and then worked in the Sales Business, from selling clothing, then cars and then opened his own furniture store, “Abe’s Furniture” in Mahone Bay in 1976.

He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 49, Mahone Bay and also retired as a member of the Mahone Bay and District Fire Department. For many years he was active on the Board for Nova Scotia Housing in Lunenburg County.

Abe loved shooting pool with his friends and played in tournaments as far away as Las Vegas and Toronto; St. John’s and Prince Edward Island as well as many places all over Nova Scotia. He also loved to watch sports on televison. He loved travelling down South to many different destinations with his wife, Gloria, many times to Cuba.

Abe is survived by his wife, Gloria; son, Yama; daughter, Tara; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Allie; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an infant son at birth, James Charles; son, Wade; brothers, Fozzette, Sammy and Joumah; sisters, Dora, Marion and Nita.

Abe requested there not be visiting hours and that a private burial service for family only be held.
