Brian Eugene Kaizer

1952-2023

Brian Eugene Kaizer
Brian Eugene Kaizer - 70, Mahone Bay.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our loving brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend on January 25, 2023, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, with family by his side.

Born on March 5, 1952 in Chester, Brian was the son of the late Justen and Ollie (Schnare) Kaizer of Gold River, NS.

Brian is survived by his last remaining sibling, Perry (Tina), Gold River; sister-in-law, Ruby Kaizer, Gold River; brother-in-law, Percy Hiltz, Martins River; nieces, Darlene (Andrew), Carol (Richard), Marsha (Jody), Candace (Mark), Nicole (TJ), Natalie and family; nephew, Scott (Lurinda); great-nephews, Ryan (Kayla), Dayne (Jamie), Mitchell(Krisha), Jacob, and Shaun; great-nieces, Kailee (Jeremy) and Sloane; great-great-nephew, Cohen; and cousin, Ronnie. He is also survived by Cindy’s children, Kim and Bradley; step-grandchildren, Madison and Lexie.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne and Jimmy; sister, Brenda; nephew, Steve and the love of his life, Cindy.

Brian was a member of the Carpenters Union of Nova Scotia, working as a labourer /carpenter most of his life on various projects throughout Nova Scotia.

Brian was the greatest of storytellers and people knew him far and wide. Chances are, if you live locally, you have a memory or story about Brian. He had a very distinct laugh and boisterous voice and was a friend to all. Even those who never had the privilege of knowing him on a personal level will still fondly recall seeing him out and about in the community, walking here and there, but always with a purpose. Brian was always willing to lend a helping hand to those young and old and never expected anything in return ...clearing snow from his neighbours’ vehicles, walking dogs, piling wood with his nephew, and collecting cans to help a young girl with her hockey equipment costs.

Brian had a heart of gold and loved his family beyond measure and even more so his true love, Cindy, who left this world just over 5 years ago to prepare their new place in Heaven. One can assume Brian got the all-clear from Cindy on her birthday that she was ready for him to come the following day.

Brian lived an adventurous life (to put it mildly) that one could write a book about and definitely had more than 9 lives! Sadly, this proved to be the final chapter in his story. Brian had the greatest impact on everyone he met and we are all better people to have known him. He will forever live on in the stories we will all now share about him.

We won’t say good-bye, but just so long, Brian, a.k.a Uncle Brian, Skeasel, Wooltop, Poppy, “Mayor of Mahone Bay”. We will carry you in our hearts until we meet again. We are certain you are having the grandest of times with Cindy, your brothers, sister, nephew, parents and friends and we will raise a glass to you and share our greatest memories for many years to come.

Special thanks to the staff at the SSRH, the LifeFlight team, and the staff at the Halifax Infirmary CCU/ICU for their exemplary care of Brian over this past month.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations can be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.

“When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?”

Miss me a little … but not for long.
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that once we shared.
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we must all take,
And each must go alone.
It’s all part of the master plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
Laugh at all the things we used to do.
Miss me, but let me go.
