Rosalie Blanche (Dorey) Ernst

1940-2023

Rosalie Blanche (Dorey) Ernst

ERNST (Dorey), Rosalie Blanche. Age 82 of Blockhouse, Lunenburg County, died February 27, 2023.

She was the daughter of the late Robie and Blanche(Carver) Dorey.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Burleigh Ernst; daughters, Belinda Josephson (Glenn); Melinda Kerwin (Tom) and her sons, Wade Ernst (Marci) and Kelly Ernst (Tracey); grandchildren, John Kerwin, Wesley Kerwin, Colin Ernst, Kaitlyn Ernst, Kendra Ernst, Katherine Ernst, Shaelyn Elliott and Camryn Elliott and great grandson, Azazel Kerwin . Also survived by her sister, Marjorie Clarke; brother, Darrell Dorey and sister, Annette Dorey.

Rosalie was a devoted wife of 60 years who liked nothing better than holding hands with the love of her life, Burleigh. She was a dedicated mother and a loving grandmother. Rosalie loved flowers and gardening and was an excellent cook and baker. She took a cake decorating course and made everyone’s birthday cake as well as her daughter’s wedding cakes. She was also an amazing seamstress who made lots of clothes for her daughters, including Belinda’s wedding dress and Melinda’s bridesmaid dresses. She enjoyed singing, reading and rug hooking but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Rosalie was involved in various community organizations. She was a valued member of the ladies auxiliary of the Blockhouse Fire Department, a member of the Home and School Committee and a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Woman’s organization for many years. She enjoyed cooking for and attending pot lucks at Blockhouse Fire Hall and St John’s Lutheran Church.

Rosalie was a homemaker and that was her pride and joy profession but before getting married she taught school on Tancook Island.

She took her final breath giving her loving husband his last kiss. Rosalie will be sadly missed by all her family. May God give her peace as she spends eternity in heaven with the angels.

A big thank you to the staff of Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital and Harbour View Haven for their wonderful care and compassion for Rosalie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay; South Shore Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.

. . . . . .

Don’t cry for me when I am gone,
The sun will still shine and life goes on.
I lived my life and I had fun.
Planted and played and enjoyed the sun.
I had a great husband and I am proud of my children.
Wouldn’t go back and change a thing.

Don’t cry for me when I am gone,
I had a great life and enjoyed so much.
Saw my children grow,
Watched my grandchildren be born.
I even saw a great grandchild.

So many don’t get to see all I have seen.
So many don’t have the chance to be proud.
Of all the wonderful people who I have helped
Come into this world.

I loved my Lord and loved my church.
Sang songs to God and prayed.
I made my parents proud and I lived my life well.
But now it is time to say farewell.

Don’t cry for me when I am gone,
The sun still shines and life goes on .
Look for me in the flowers that bloom,
Look for me in the vegetable garden.

Know that I am in a better place.
No more pain and no more despair.
I will keep watch from way up there.

We shall meet again one day,
When the time is right, you can make your way.
Stay strong and remember all that I taught you.
I love you all and I will miss you dearly.

Don’t cry for me when I am gone,
The sun will still shine and life goes on.
