Wallace Sydney "Wally" Wilkie
1933-2024
Wally enjoyed a successful 31 year career as a florist at Becks Flowers in Lunenburg, where his innovative spirit and dedication made a significant impact on his community. Prior to becoming a florist he enjoyed careers as both a well driller and woodsman.
In addition to his professional achievements, Wallace was passionate about firefighting, he had over 20 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Blockhouse and District Fire Department, where he held the role of Deputy Chief for part of that time as well. In Wally’s spare time you would find him camping, fishing, gardening and spending Sunday evenings having dinner with his family.
A beloved father and grandfather, Wally is survived by his son Wade (Susan), daughter Paula (Shawn), his cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Gavin, Kelli, Katlyn (Chris), Megan (Jason) and Erin (Robert) as well as his beloved great-grandchildren: Shaelee, Milo, Hope, Tyler, Rose, Maddie, Aiden, Sydney and Ivy. He is also survived by his brother, Terry, brother in law Darren, and sister's in law, Mae, Evelyn and Loreen.
Married to the love of his life in November of 1956, Wally was preceded in death by his loving wife, Yvonne. Also his daughter, Tina, Parents, Oswald and Amy, his older brother, Ronnie, and sister in law, Brenda.
Wallace lived a life rich with love and laughter, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm heart and generous spirit, Wally brought joy to everyone around him. He had a remarkable ability to light up a room with his humor and kindness, and his stories will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
A celebration of his life will be held October 5th 2024, 1 - 3 pm at the Blockhouse & District Fire Hall.
