Faye Yvonne Robar
1939-2024
Faye was born on March 25, 1939 in New Cornwall and was the daughter of Arnold and Hazel Barkhouse.
Faye was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church where she served as a deacon as well as participating in various church functions. She was a founding member of the Maritime Motorcycle Touring Association, South Shore Chapter III where she remained active for many years. Traveling by motorcycle was one of her favourite pastimes. In recent years she enjoyed doing lexicons, puzzles, reading, tending to her greenhouse plants, bird-watching from her kitchen window and swinging on her porch swing. One of her greatest joys was spending time with loved ones. Faye touched many lives and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all.
Faye leaves behind her daughters, Jo-Ann (Michael) Johnson, Chester, Deborah Skinner (David Bush), Fauxburg; sons, Trevor (Heather Smith), Garden Lots and Arnold (Angela Naas), Blockhouse. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Faye was predeceased by her husband, Basil; son, Travis and daughter, Donna Silver.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. A service to celebrate Faye’s life will be held at Northwest Baptist Church 1609 Big Lots Road, off Rte. 324, Northwest, on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00am. Reception to follow. Committal will take place at the New Cornwall Memorial Gardens, New Cornwall, immediately following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Northwest Baptist Church, Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.
