Neil William Cleveland

The family of Neil William Cleveland sadly announces his peaceful passing in Mahone Bay Nursing Home on April 12, 2026, with his children by his side.

Born in Bayswater on August 23, 1936, Neil shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marie. Together they raised three children, Alva Oickle (Clyde), Kelsie Hirtle (Stewart) and Jeffery Cleveland (Gail), and mourned the loss of their infant son, Dana. Neil was cherished by his six grandchildren, Todd, Bettina, Dana, Tasha, Justin, and Logan, and seven great-grandchildren, Ross, Hannah, Marissa, Lily, Cooper, Kohen, and Quinn.

Neil proudly served with the Mahone Bay Police Department, where he held the rank of Corporal, before completing his 23-year policing career with the Lunenburg detachment. Throughout his life, Neil was deeply involved in his community. He volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Mahone Bay Legion, among other organizations. Neil founded the Mahone Bay Junior Police for local children, and taught weightlifting classes at Mahone Bay School. A passionate athlete, Neil was also an accomplished bodybuilder who earned numerous awards.

He will be fondly remembered for his dedication, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on his community and family alike.

Neil's wishes were there will be no funeral or visitation. A graveside service to be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Park Cemetery, 47 Park St. (off Kinburn Street), Mahone Bay.

The family would like to send a heart-felt Thank You to the staff of Earth Angels and Mahone Nursing Home for the care Neil received.

The family have requested that memorial donations be made to Mahone Bay Legion Branch #49 or Mahone Bay & District Fire Department
