It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean “Jeannie” Swinemar (née Campbell) on June 10, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
Jean was born in Hamilton, Bermuda, on December 27, 1954. She moved to Nova Scotia in 1963 and became a part of the Gold River community in 1964. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Morris Swinemar; her son, Matthew (Tanya Brittain) Swinemar, and her grandson, Hayden. She also warmly embraced Tanya’s children, Noah and Grace Brittain, as part of her family.
Jean is survived by her sister, Heather (Mike) Brooker; maternal aunt Eileen Nicol (née Connors), cousins Ian, Kevin and John; brothers-in-law Lloyd (Dianne) Swinemar, Rick (Coleen) Swinemar, Derrek (Joan) Swinemar; nieces and nephews Erin and Ariel; Jennifer and Rebecca; Ryan and Jacqueline; Joanna and Jeremy; Sarah, Abbie, Jonathan, Stephen, Nathanael and Timothy; as well as many beloved grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Agnes Campbell (née Connors); in-laws Lloyd and Jessie Swinemar; brothers-in-law David (Mary) Swinemar and Christopher (survived by Shirley) Swinamer; and grand-nephew Zachary.
Jeannie will be deeply missed by many lifelong friends, by those who shared her passion for dogs, flyball, and agility training, and by the entire community she called home.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jean’s doctors and to the devoted staff of South Shore Regional Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness.
A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at the Aenon Baptist Church in Chester Basin on Friday, June 26th, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm. After the ceremony, a celebration of life will also be at the church.
