Douglas J. DeMont
1934-2010
Douglas John DeMont - 76 of Western Shore, passed away February 11,
2010 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born February 11,
1934 at Martins Point he was a son of the late Keith Emerson and Grace
Irene (Rafuse) DeMont. During his earlier years he had worked on the
construction of the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge and then went on to
become a supervisor with Oland’s Brewery. In his later years of
employment he worked at construction. He loved his dogs and grand
dogs, swimming, walking and fishing. Family and friends knew him as a
great story teller. The last few years he had attended New Hope
Community Church in Western Shore. He is survived by his wife,
Carolyn (Crossland); daughters, Jill (Craig) Rackley, Western Shore,
Donna (Lawrence) Aucoin, Cole Harbour; sons, Dana (Julie) DeMont,
Western Shore, Andrew (Crystal) Swinimer, Middle New Cornwall;
grandsons, Nicholas, Ryan and Lucas; sister, Carolyn (Fred) Swinimer,
Gold River; sister-in- law, Opal DeMont, Gold River. Besides his
parents, he was predeceased by a twin brother, Donald. Visiting will
be 7-9 p.m., Sunday, February 14, 2010 in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone
Bay. Memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2010
in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay, Pastor Aaron Hamilton
officiating. Interment will be in Western Shore Cemetery. A
reception will follow at Oak Island Resort, Western Shore. Family
flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Lung Association of
