Greta Louvenia Vaughan

Greta Louvenia Vaughan - 91, of Western Shore passed away peacefully and with dignity at home on December 11, 2011, surrounded by loving family members.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert; daughter, Miriam; brother, Lloyd.

Greta was a life-long member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Martin’s Point, where she was recently awarded a 70 year plaque for her dedicated service to the work of the Church. She was a caring and compassionate lady who excelled in her chosen crafts of sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren always received a blanket or item of clothing lovingly crafted by her talented hands.

She is survived by a sister, Grace; her daughters, Diane (George) and Lucille; 6 grandchildren, Heather (John), Graham (Rhonda), Timothy (Donna), Jackie (Blaine), Todd (Cecile), John (Brenda); 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 16 at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Martin’s Point, Rev. Bonnie Baird and Rev. Ron Barkhouse officiating. Interment will be in Western Shore Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.

Family flowers only. Memorial donations in Greta’s memory may be made to St. Mark’s Anglican Church or the Victorian Order of Nurses-Lunenburg County Branch.

Greta’s family would like to thank Home Care and the VON caregivers for their loving and compassionate care, along with a special thank you to Dr. Mada Nestel for “Going the extra mile” in providing care and comfort to Greta during her final illness.
